Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen 2019 is Sarah Cate Lay.  Sarah Cate is the 16-year old daughter of Mark and Cathy Lay of North Little Rock and is a junior at Mount Saint Mary Academy.  Sarah Cate captured the state title during her fourth year competing, and she is excited to spread her personal platform “The Purple Project:  Epilepsy Education” across the state of Arkansas.  Throughout her year of service, Sarah Cate will also serve as the state teen ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network. 

 

Throughout her years of competing, Sarah Cate has held the titles of Miss Central Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen 2016, Miss Metro’s Outstanding Teen 2017, Miss Greater Little Rock’s Outstanding Teen 2018, and Miss White River’s Outstanding Teen 2019.  She earned a $7000 scholarship and over $25,000 in awards, wardrobe, and gifts when she claimed the state title on Friday, June 14 at the Robinson Center Auditorium in Little Rock.  In her previous years of competing, she earned $1100 in awards from local titles and $2000 in awards from competing in Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen the past 4 years as she earned awards for her Top 10 placement in Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen, competing at Miss Metro’s Outstanding Teen and placing 3rd Runner Up to Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen as Miss Greater Little Rock’s Outstanding Teen.

 

A competitive dancer since the age of 6, Sarah Cate has clogged and tap danced as a competitor during her years competing in the Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen Pageant and local preliminaries.  She is an honor roll student, enrolled in all Advanced Placement and honors classes at Mount Saint Mary Academy.  She is involved in various leadership roles at her high school where she served as a Mountie Messenger Ambassador, sophomore class president, and board member of her freshman and sophomore class retreats.  She has dreams of pursuing a career as a psychiatrist one day.
